OVERVIEW - ASCD Curriculum Mapping Project:
RHHS participated in a curriculum mapping project led by ASCD at John Bowne HS in the spring of 2011. Language arts and social studies teachers worked independently on developing curriculum maps for their subject areas. The emphasis was on incorporating the CCS (Common Core Standards) into the curricula for these two subject areas.

CAREER AND COLLEGE READINESS:
21st Century Skills The Partnership for 21st Century Skills is a national organization that advocates for 21st century readiness for every student. As the United States continues to compete in a global economy that demands innovation, P21 and its members provide tools and resources to help the U.S. education system keep up by fusing the three Rs and four Cs (critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity and innovation). Recommended by ASCD staff developer at curriculum mapping workshop.
ACADEMIC RIGOR AND SUPPORT FOR STRUGGLING STUDENTS: Academic rigor has become a key concern as American students fail to measure up relative to students in many other countries.
